  • GM Bolt pattern's suck

What do i need to do to change the bolt pattern so i can actually find some wheels that will fit? New axles? i'm desperate here. I cannot stand the aftermarket wheels they have for these cars. And the ones i do like everyone has already. Origianality is a key here so any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

The 6" backspacing doesn't help either!!!!!

Some people have used BMW wheels, hoping the 120mm bolt pattern of the bimmers is close enough to the 120.65mm pattern on the F-Body/Corvette. I personally would not do that, because of the fact that the wheels are "centered" by the cone of the lug nuts. I hope they are checking the lugs for torque periodically.

There are a huge number of wheels for the Corvette that can be considered.... but most of them get a bit pricey. HRE and Fikse' are among the best, but typically $600/wheel.

Have you gone to Tire Rack, and done a search? It will turn up 15 different wheels that will fit the 4th Gen F-Body. And they don't have anywhere near all of the ones that are available.

wheels are a hard thing to be original on. There are so many other parts of the car that you can make different that i wouldnt worry about it. If you put a different ground effects kit on, and a hood that no one around you has seen that much then whoever your being original for wont really care if somone else has your rims to.

5X4.75 is probably one of the most popular bolt patterns out there, unless you are looking for ricer wheels. I'd estimate that over half of the GM vehicles on the road use this pattern. The problem is the backspacing and offsets. Regardless, American Racing makes a bunch of wheels for the f-body, you just have to look for them. Get the specs on somebody's set of Torque Thrusts, and cross reference them to the specs on other American Racing wheels. I have a set of 17X9.5 and 17X11 Spinnaker's on my car, and I have never seen a set on another f-body. I know they are out there, but if I don't see them, they don't count!

If you are a fanatic about originality, Boyds can carve a custom set of billet wheels. The price tag may may you settle for a little less originality though.
