    DOCTORS
    (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700, 000.
    (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120, 000.
    (C) Accidental deaths per physician are 0.171.
(Statistics courtesy of U.S Dept of Health Human Services)

    GUNS
    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80
    million.
    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
    (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

fact: not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor!

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.

Out of concern for the public at large, we have withheld the statistics on
lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical
    attention. Big Grin

I love it. I have a shirt that says "Guns dont kill people, I DO!" It comes from the big, ugly guy on "Happy Gilmore" He wears the same shirt in the golf tournament, when shooter has to hit the ball off his foot.......

Yea, gun control is ridiulous. Another piece of the idealogical, liberal adgenda that isnt very well thought out.

now i dont have a real position on gun control, but as a logical person i always have to look at things this way...... If it wasnt for the gun control, how different would those numbers be?

There might be 3000 people still alive from 9/11. How many people with guns could have stopped that from happening.

LOL Yea that was kind of open ended but the point was if there had been people with guns on that flight, they might could have stopped 9/11 from happening. People without guns on one of the flights stopped at least the plane from being used as a weapon. There is no telling how many lives they saved. Hundreds maybe thousands.

As bru333 statistics show and every other one I have seen and 0 that's to the contrary, the more restrictive the gun laws are, the higher the crime rate. That's just the stats.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. That's why I like the fact that Texas has a concealed handguns liscense. "An armed society is a peaceful society."

I'd like to clarify one glaring omission:

Doctors rob you, THEN they kill you.

                              Firearms accident facts compiled from:
National Safety Council, INJURY FACTS 1999 Edition [formerly ACCIDENT FACTS]
                              National Center for Health Statistics
                              Bureau of the Census
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
                              Firearms industry reports

As of March 2000, in the United States, since 1930:

The population has more than doubled, the number of privately owned firearms has more than quadrupled, and the annual number of accidental firearms deaths has decreased 69%. The fatal firearm accident rate has fallen to a new all-time low, down 88% since the all-time high recorded in 1904. A person is less likely to have a fatal firearm accident today than at any time in recorded U.S. history.

                              During the last 25 years:

The fatal firearm accident rate has dropped 62%, the greatest decline among principal types and classes of accidental deaths. Comparing firearm accident rates (fatalities per 100,000) to other accident rates:

                              NATIONWIDE ACCIDENT RATES
                              1. Motor vehicle accidents -- 16.2
