I just bought a 2001 Dodge Durango 5.9 auto AWD. It has started throwing codes. anyone have a ideas where to start trouble shooting

P0455: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Large Leak)
P0442 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Small Leak)

I'm not familiar with the specific Dodge system and componant location, the codes refer to the fuel tank vent canister. It is an emissions device that filters the fuel vapors from the vent and absorbs them into a charcoal contained canister. Typically located in the engine compartment, you could trace the vent lines from the tank to the canister. The codes refer to a leak in the system. It could be a vacuum line breach or an internal leak in the canister. Do you happen to smell any fuel odor coming from underhood?

No fuel order and I made sure the Gas cap was tight ...guess I need to look for the canister
