When I first start my car up in the morning it is really hard to get the thing to go into any gear. I usually have to wrestle with it to get it in gear. Once the car is warmed up I have no problem whatsoever. I have checked the fluid in my clutch resevoir and it is OK. I have tried pumping the clutch but that doesn't help. I have tried starting the car in neutral but its still hard to put in gear...even when I get it in gear if I let it creep forward or backward a bit it wil not easily go into another gear. Does anyone else have this problem or do you have any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Never had that problem with my T56 for the 8 years it was in the car. Have you ever had the fluid changed? Are you running the required Dexron III or an equivalent synthetic? Almost sounds like someone put a "gear" lube in it instead of the specified ATF.Fred

With the trans in neutral, it doesn't do it. Mine supposedly was rebuilt. It's not really hard to go into gear but it is harder than when warmed up. I am using Mobil 1 synthetic ATF that replaces Dextron Mercon. I just figured mine was tight from the rebuild.Dave S

How cold is it in the mornings when you start your vehicle? My car does not do it bad but I've noticed it on my brothers jeep that if it is cold enough out you have to fight with it to get it in gear. My theory on that was always that the fluid is still cold which makes it thicker causing it to be harder to push in gear. Kinda like when you start your car on a cold morning you'll run higher oil pressure until your car warms up.1994 Firebird Formula, M6, Fan switch, 160 thermostat, Pacesetter LT headers, Morosso CAI, TB bypass, True duals.

It sounds like the clucth is going bad, but weather should not affect that.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning
