Granatelli MAF Screen?

ok sent my SN 2000 to paradise wheels for a rebuild etc anyways when i disconnected the K&N with the MAF on it i looked inside the air cone there was no screen over the resistors on the MAF! i thought there was always supposed to be a screen over those resistors... i bought this car about a year ago with this already on there... should i put a screen over it? a buddy of mine told me ppl do it sometimes for a little more performance is this true?

You won't see any performance increase unless your car is heavily modified. You might get increased throttle response, but slightly.

i took one look at those resistors and they look incredibly fragile im just afraid it may fail with no screen over it.
