High idle at start up?

Guys I need help with an issue I'm having at start up. I believe I read here about someone having the same issue but I can't find the thread.

What happens is that the car revs to about 2500 or 3k for about 5 seconds and then drops to normal. I've never noticed this before. What could it be?

'95 TA A4, 118000 on the clock!

Although I don't see nearly as high RPMs as you did (highest previous was ~2100), I believe it is heat related. For me, it got way worse when I got the Vortech intake elbow, and the IAT was pushing hard on a coolant line. I relocated the IAT and now the problem occurs about 1/4 of the time. However, after the relocation, and if I park the car in a garage, it won't do it.
