I just got quoted 475 for a 3 angle valve job and bowl blend. I asked about the intake and exhaust ports, and he said that's a full port job, you're looking at around 1200. Not too bad, but I think I can do the ports myself. I have all the tools, and there is a really good online guide as to how to do it. I trust myself, I have a steady hand 
That 475 doesn't sound like too bad of a deal, actually. I could actually get just the bowl area done for $275. Is the 3 angle valve job really necessary? How much gain will I get out of that? $275 sounds a lot better than $500 right now, with the way I've been spending money
