    does anyone know why lifters collapse? my 95 z28 just got a big buck valve job with new valve springs. after three days,one lifter started to tick,and twenty miles later they were almost all ticking.Pulling the valve cover revealed six out of eight rockers can be pushed down to the lifter bottoms (rocker have oil).
    Can someone explain how a 93k mile engine can do this?

    sounds like the rockers were not adjusted correctly when the valve job was done.

      Or excessively heavy valve spring pressures.

        My first thought was a bad oil pump. I know my oil pressure goes pretty low at idle. From the threads I have seen, low oil pressure at idle seems to be pretty normal for LT1 motors.

          Oil Pressure

          The lowest my oil pressure goes is 25lbs at idle. What is yours doing?

            I don't have a calibrated gage but it goes below the 20 pound line on the dash. I have seen several post on here about it going down to 15. I think 25 is the highest I have seen it on the message board..
