It's under the drivers side rear passengers seat, underneath the car, in case you didn't know. One side you take off with a wrench, the other side has that stupid plastic lock sliding thingy. I can't remember how it comes off, but it only took me like 5 minutes to complete it. The hardest part is squeezing the bracket hard enough to get the filter to come off the car!

You can relieve the fuel pressure by releasing the line pressure at the Schrader valve, behind the passenger side fuel rail. Then remove the tank fill cap, to relieve any residual tank pressure. Have a catch can under the car with you, and a rag to hold over the end of the line, because it will still flow fuel by gravity when you break the connection.
The outlet end of the filter has the threaded connector. Be sure to use two wrenches.. one to hold the nut on the hard line end so the line doesn't twist, the other to turn the nut on the filter end. Then simply pinch the nylon clip in the plastic line on the inlet side. Reverse procedure to replace.
The filter is in a little clip that springs into the subframe, and can be a pain to get out. Your filter will be right where mine is in the picture below... but it won't have braided S/S lines and it would be red anodized aluminum billet....

This is true. However, if you have a limited time to do this (as in car has to be ready for you to drive it the next day) you can take the cap off of the test port on the fuel rail located at the back of the motor, take an old rag (preferably a big one) and push the valve in to release the pressure.

WHY won't MINE be like that???
I want MINE to look like YOURS !!! Was that a special option that I missed, when I bought my car????
I think I need to call GM ... I was never offered that option !!
Might i suggest disconnection of the battery, mine acted really stupid because the ecm was trying to compensate for low octane or something in addition to my bad coil wire Lets just say that there was thunder and lightning under the hood
