The passenger side headlight on my car is messed up. The motor still works, it goes up and down on command. But when i put them down it goes down all the way then the inner front corner pops up about 1/4-1/2 inch. Causing the upper outer corner to dip down. When I got my bumper cover repainted the guy said that he "riged" it so i was fine which it was but i guess the part he "riged" broke again. Does anybody know what im talking about or how to fix this. The guy also said the part is like 500 bucks for a new one.
    thanks

The motor stop must be broken. There is a stop in the mechanisim to stop the headlight from going to far and poping back up, as when the motor over closes the light, it actually starts to lift again. This is adjustable on the third gens, but Im not sure about the 4th gens. Find an auto wrecker and get the mechanisim used and replace it.

sounds like you need to back the adjuster off a little. thats what i do when that happens. just remove the boot on the moter and manualy release some presure off the light moter by turning the knob under the boot .about a half turn at a time. If thats not it see if the srews on the head light case came loose. That will cause a hang up to. If the moter in the head light didnt stop it would be the gear in it that was bad. gm wont sell just that plastic gear. the whole moter from them would cost about 300.00 You could replace it with a brass gear witch will last for ever it comes with instructions to for about 45.00 from bFranKer@tampabay.rr.com Thats what i did. good luck

May I share with you another experience with the headlights besides
        the gears?....There is how I solve it.......anyway....
My Trans am was hit a green turn light over the front bumper,
right fender, right wheel cover and the wheel itself too.Fortunately,
no other parts were damaged (including the right headlight assembly).
In order to dismount these pieces and install the new ones, the whole
2 headlight assemblies were dismounted also....I really was pissed
off, because I didn't think that was not necessary ("primum non
        nocere"...first don't make additional damage....the first medical
practice rule)....but...when I arrived to the body shop, the procedure
        was made already.....and....one week after...guess what?....they had
broken off the "up stop" and a huge plastic part too (where the stop
was attached) ....damn!!!..that meant they had to purchase the whole
plastic piece and disassemble/assemble all over again and the left
side too......that would mean more time wasted without my daily car, a
very high probability of new damages......So, I could not attach a
bult&nut because the huge plastic base was lost. I took a hex key
wrench (aka Allen key wrench) and they made an Allen key replica with
a construction rod (3/8" diameter) and they welded it to the steel
frame below the headlight and the plastic frame were the stops and the
hradlight motor must be mounted. Hope you had an idea how they welded
the rod, the new top was the short arm from the "L" shape rod (the "L"
rod was welded up side down, so as, the large arm tip was the welded
part). Maybe your car has enough plastic base to attach a bolt& nut, but if not, you have my option.
This story was told to Brent Franker, the kind guy who made the metal gears...

I really would appreciate you could tell me how you solve this problem, thanks in advance
        Good luck
