  • Longtubes

I talked to a police officer about the emissions in my county and all. He told me that all my car needs is catalyic converters and a muffler. I thought to myself then longtubes would work. He said it needs to pass an exhaust test, but will eliminating the a.i.r. stuff and those other things make the car fail the tests???

Technically longtubes will not pass because it is illegal to move the location of the cats. Most places atleast that I know of do not worry about where that cat is just that it is on there. If you have a strict visual inspection removing your AIR system will cause you to fail. If it is just a sniffer (don't quote me on this) I think you could get by if you had the car good and warmed up because all the AIR pump does is pump oxgyen into your cats for the first few minutes when you start the car to heat up the cats. If you drove the car around for a bit and got them warmed up I THINK you would be alright.

Thanks for that info 94 Formula, if I remove the AIR system will i need any parts to close that system off, and what kind of y pipe would fit if i got the pacesetter long tubes, i think i will still need the dual cats. Thanks

By the way all of your guy's cars on this site look really awesome, especially the ones that have been Zainoed!!!

You can buy headers without AIR fittings on them. If you get headers with the AIR fittings you need to cap off the holes so you don't have an exhaust leak. You can buy a y-pipe from pacesetter or you can just take it to an exhaust shop and have one made.
