If the Nextel Cup guys can squeeze 850-900 horsepower out of a 350 SBC with a single 780 CFM carb, and many more restrictions, I find it hard to believe the SBC is fading due to technology. Granted they have top dollar to research and modify, but it shows that the SBC can make the power than many "newer" technology engines can never come close to.

I focused on increasing the effeciency. Every little mod that many say aren't worth it, all can add up to be greater than the sum of the parts. I'll PM you a complete list of mods if interested, some can be found here: http://www.ws6.com/mycar.htm

There is a wealth of information to start with. .

That was cool seeing all the dyno numbers like that. Did he have his own dyno machine or does he just have that much money, lol.

Food for thought....Lets drop in an LS1 in a 67-71 Camaro.....oh wait...we would need to have the crossmember reworked fashion new motor mounts etc....

Lets try that 396 LT1 ...holy crap...I just have to slide the bolts into the motor mounts? YES you do...and away you go...

Many people forget that the LT1 can be placed and bolted (literally) into any GM car that carried a SBC. You can't do that with an LS1 without doing some modifications (in some case severe)

There is no doubt the LSx motors are fantastic. Because they are. BUT...each motor has its place and there ARE shops out there that make great stuff and can do great stuff with that archaic LT1.

BTW....Who ever said something about the Ford 302 is right. Those guys aren't letting that go, and neither am I for my LT1....After all its THE motor that put the F-body out in front in 93 and stayed there til 2002 (performance wise).

Good point. Many people do forget or don't even realize that the SBC, BBC, and LT1 all bolt up to the same motor mounts. Additionally the oil pan shape is also basically identical between the LT1 and SBC. The LT1 and 96-99 Vortech oil pans, pump and pickup are exactly identical with the exception of the LT1 having the oil level sensor.

I am pretty happy at 13.4 N/A for now. Just a few bolt-on's, the cheaper ones.

Now that I finally got a well paying job (starting April 21st WOOHOO!) And the fact that she is paid up very soon. It's MOD TIME!!!

Pretty set on a pro turbo kits setup hopefully by this summer... As for slow LT1's, Rick Intrau has already gone 8.35 @ 168mph on 23lbs boost.

I think I will keep mine around for a little while.
