  • Do the '95 TA's have aluminum heads?

I read a tech article but it did not give specifics as to which LT1's had alum. heads and which had iron heads.

Can someone please let me know?!?

I know the F-body and Corvette had aluminum heads. I think the Caprice may have had cast iron heads.

I know the baby LT1 ( caprice) had iron heads, and I believe that the first LT1's had aluminum heads and then they changed to iron heads that supposedly made 20 more horsepower. I don't really know.

I have to be sure about this though. Anyone else?

ALL F-Body and Corvette LT1's are aluminum heads. Only the Caprice/SS/Roadmaster/Fleetwood LT1's have cast iron heads.

          Thank you

Is there a kind-of baseline flow number for these heads?

Also what compression do these motors use? Is it 10.5.1?

Yes, it was 10.5:1 compression for the LT1. Also, I believe the Impalas received the iron heads too, but I could be wrong.

Yes, when Fred said " Caprice/SS/Roadmaster/Fleetwood" I'm sure he meant Impala SS.

Here's a good link for identifying some of the differences in the LT1 engines over the years, and between the aluminum and CI head engines:

                  http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm

Here's a link showing the differences in flow between the LT1 aluminum and CI heads, and the LT4 heads (and even the Dominion/Arao 32-valve heads) both stock and ported:

Here's a link that shows the differences between the LT1 and LT4 engines:

Yes, all f-bodies and y-bodies received aluminum heads. Compression ratio is 10.4:1 on the LT1's and 10.8:1 on the LT4

Pretty sure I've seen it posted as 10.5:1 just about everywhere.

10.4:1 trust me. Lots of people have the bad habit of irresponsibly rounding up compression ratio decimals.
