  • Worn Tires PSI

Whats the best psi for tire pressure on worn tires with not much tread left, so I can better prevent blow outs, and losing control. (Getting as much as I can out of them.) Normal, higher, or lower psi?

the pressure that is printed on your door plaquard, drivers side.

thats what that tire is desinged to run at. putting more air in wont prevent flats, nor will letting air out. lack of tread depth increases your chance of a flat tire...especially in the rear..as your front tire runs over something and sends it backwards "twirlling"...

if you overinflate, you reduce the size of the contact patch (footprint) and the tire will wear out faster because now the wear is cocentrated on a smaller area..

worn tread (as long as its not into the cord body) does not cause blow outs. blow outs are caused by underinflation and too much heat generation to the tires construction.
