The temp on my car will sometimes go up a bit while setting in traffic, but if I increase the rpm's a some the temp goes back down right away. What I'm wondering is could the waterpump be about ready to die and just not flowing fast enough while idoling? Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

Goes up to what? The fans aren't programmed to kick on till 226 deg. That sounds pretty normal.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

I have not heard of one failing to pump. The only thing I have ever seen is they start leaking out the weep hole and take out the OPTI.Originally posted by Roy 96 T/A ConvertibleI have a 160 thermostat and the pcm has been programmed to turn on the second fan at 192 and off at 185. The temp didn't used to go up in traffic, it was always pretty solid. Just wondering if anyone else has had a waterpump do this, or if I need to look elsewhere?2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning
