  • Idle speed of LT1 M6

What is the idle speed chart for a 94-95 LT1 with a M6 supposed to be from the factory.
This is the chart I found for the A4 in Neutral.
    temp RPM
    -40 1200
    -19 1200
    3 1200
    24 1000
    46 950
    69 900
    89 850
    111 775
    132 700
    154 650
    176 650
    197 625
    219 625
    240 625
In gear it is set to 800 at 197, 219, 240 (I don't have the other chart).

My PCM has been reprogrammed and is set to 800 which seams quite high. I didn't have any problem when it was set to 625.

I have the stock program idle vs. coolant temp table for the A4 and M6 in my online scanner writeup:

    http://members.aol.com/InjuneerZZ/ScanMast.htm

And 800rpm fully warmed up is the factory setting for an M6.

Thank you Fred. I'll tell him to leave it alone then.

My scanner says 800 with slight fluctuations to 825 but the dash says almost 1000. I don't care what the dash says. 800 is too high Especially with the 2.6:1 1st gear. Idle in 1st is like 15 mphs. LOL I asked him to adjust it to 750 rpms at 154 deg and 700 rpms at 176 deg and up.

As you probably guessed, I have gotten PCMForLess to do my programming. I downloaded it to the car last night. That is so weird. In the old day I'd be changing secondary springs, or tweaking distributor advance springs but now you have to have a laptop. I don't have to smell like gas anymore. In fact, I was still dressed in work cloths. Weird but good. LOL
