  • One day I will post something of a positive nature.......

Hi guys, my shifter has always felt as though it was binding when going from first to second and sometimes from third to fourth. Just yesterday, with clutch fully disengaged, during a slow shift, second gear was grinding. What an awful sound. I was able to make it do it a few more times then it was gone.

Here is my problem. The GM dealer here is a disgrace to the general, the servicee department is a joke. I can just picture them saying, "well we took it for a ride and it seemed good." Any advice on how I can at least get them to pull the tranny apart and inspect? Have any of you people experienced anything of this nature?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jamie Stringer

ditch the o.e. shifter for an aftermarket good one. dont take that tranny down unless its absolutely necessary.

    thats my 2 cents.

I swapped OE out for The Hurst competition plus in hopes of rectifying but now it seems as tho it is progressively getting worse.

What else can I do, maybe try a B&M?

no. then it does sound like a syncro problem. if the dealer wont co-op..then submit a complaint to customer care.

I agree with that (Syncros), but you don't want the dealer ripping into that box (especially if its a T56). It has been my experiance that generally the dealer doesn't have anyone thats into rebuilding transmissions. If its under warranty, have them replace the unit. If not, take it to a tranny place thats good with manual gearboxes.
