  • NFB: 0-60 in 19 seconds......

I have seen the future, and it ain't very promising. Article in the local newspaper:

    World's 1st fuel-cell truck in use.....

General Motors Corp. rolled out the world's first drivable fuel-cell truck yesterday and handed over keys to an exacting patron: the Army.

The olive-green pickup took a demonstration spin around GM's fuel-cell development center in rural upstate New York, carrying Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-NY....... (other names listed).....

The modified Chevrolet Silverado crew-cab truck will be leased to the Defense Department for non-combat use at Fort Belvoir, VA and Camp Pendelton, CA, and tested in various climates and terrain around the country until July 2006.

    ..........

The truck is powered by two hydrogen fuel-cell stacks and can travel 125 miles. it can carry 1,600 pounds and accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 19 seconds and has a top speed of 93 mph.
Think it was Hillary that made it so slow.........

One interesting thing about Fuel Cells, is no moving parts thus no heat and no friction, water is the byproduct.

Our local paper had the article (Home News Tribune, Middlesex County NJ). But it was an "Associated Press" news release. Might find it at Associated Press.
