  • Are my brakes working properly....

Got a 1995 Z28. Just recently replaced the all pads with Hawk HPS and new cross drilled rotors. The performance of the new parts feels the same as the old parts.
    Here is the problem.
When out driving on tight country roads in a spirited manner I think I'm getting bad brake fade. I know I have the smaller LT1 brakes but I just want to be sure there isnt another problem. When the brakes are warm under normal conditions it brakes very well, when the brakes are very hot it is hard to slow down even when pushing the brake pedal throught the floor.
Is there an adjustment or somthing that I might be missing, I really think this car should be braking better than this. I really cant remember what it was like when it was new. Im sure the calipers are good and the pedal is always firm.
Any thoughts other than get bigger brakes.
    Thanks

i would suggest bleeding them and see what you get, some fresh fluid wouldnt hurt either. you may also have a problem with the rubber lines. sometimes when the rubber lines get hot fluid in them, they xpand when you press the pedal. some nice stainless steel lines wouldnt hurt a thing. that is one mod you notice the second you use the brakes.

After checking the fluid in the master, it looks like dirty pepsi cola. I really cant tell if the pedal is soggy or not, when you press it with moderate effort you reach a point where it becomes very solid and won go any further. Also if you panic stop, the tires dont chirp when the ABS does its thing, I dont even feel a pulsating pedal.
I think the next step is to drain all the brake fluid and replace it with new.
