I have a 98 camaro ls1 and Ive had my check engine light on since i got my car and it has turned off a few times for about 100 miles or so at a time. The only engine modification that i have made is a k&n filter and the suncoast creations functional ram air hood. I had the codes read today and they are as follows: po103, po153, and po404. I was told that one code is for the maf sensor showing high voltage, and the other was for an oxygen sensor with a slow response. They were not sure of what the 404 code was but guessed that it was the egr valve. Any input? what am i looking at as far as problems caused by these items? And what would it cost to fix them? Thanks for the help.

What could cause them?
Thanks for the link but what do they mean? P0404 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance, P0103 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit High Frequency, P0153 - HO2S Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1, If someone could explain what these mean i would really appreciate it.

the only one I can really comment on is the 02 sensor, slow response. Either the sensor has been contaminated or is on it's way out the door. Check the harness connections for the sensor (passenger side), make sure they are tight and making good contact. If that doesn't do it, time to replace it. It is located just above the manifold to Y pipe union on the passenger side.
The EGR circuit is most likely a faulty EGR control solenoid.
The MAF code.... the maf wires (the electrodes within the maf) may have become either dirty or damaged. You can clean it with electrical contact cleaner by removing it and spraying the insides, then reinstall. If the wires are damaged, time to replace.

Joe's got the O2 sensor covered. Its the pre-cat sensor on the passenger side.
P0103 is MAF sensor high frequency. The MAF sensor is indicating a high air flow (high frequency = high air flow), when it isn't supposed to. Sensor could be faulty.
I can't specifically find P0404. P0403 is the EGR, so that might cover P0404 also. Odd, because I have a Corvette LS1 manual and it doesn't show any codes below P0410. If it is the EGR, it might be covered by some sort of emissions warranty. There are several potential problem areas for the EGR.Fred

No... the engine pulls in exactly the amount of air it needs... the effect of the Ram Air hood and airbox is minimal. The diagnostic code would only be set by a gross error in the frequency output of the sensor. It might be expecting 6 to 10 grams/second at idle, and seeing 200gps. Something radical. You could scan it with AutoTap software and find out more about the causes of both the MAF code and the O2 sensor code.Fred
