get the clay bar and clay the car first..... thats after you wash it with blue liquid dawn.

get the zfx and the z5. after you build up some coats, then get the z2pro for more gloss... but right now...use z5. then get the z6 gloss enhancer. if you dont want to buy his car wash, then be sure and only use a soap made just for washing cars. and dont buy soap with "wax in it"...

thats for the painted surface, the rest of the car is up to you, his leather products are awesome, as is his rubber preservative for weather stripping and tires...

Did you go to Zaino collage

Does he have anything that will fix up fairly beatup red paint with alot of swirl marks. My poor bird was not treated to good by its previous owners, I'm pretty sure they drove it in the winter

Btw. what do you guys apply/remove this stuff with, 100% cotton?

Those of us who were here on this board with Ken in 97 and 98 got a full Zaino schooling when it first hit this board. Ken tested Zaino for us on his Firehawk back then and a lot of us have met Sal personally and become friends with him. Him and Ken are so close he was probably best man at Sal's wedding!

As for your question, it would depend on your definition of "beat up". If it looks like my old daily driver Toyota did with the clear coat all gone and the paint faded off in spots, nothing except a repaint will help it. If it just looks like someone used some gravel to wash it a couple times because of all the swirl marks, get Zaino! If they're really bad, you may never lose all of them, but Zaino will definatly help. You's want the clay, zfx, z5, z6,and z7. Sal has a starter set with all of those products in it, plus z2 I believe, for about $85. The price may seem high, but you shoud be able to get over 1o coats out of that bottle of z5 and another 10 out of the z2.

As for applying it.... anything that touches your car should be 100% cotton, made in the USA. Cotton made in other countries is not actually 100% cotton, as they don't have to meet the same standards as that made in the USA. Everything should be white, no colors. When you wash your towels, use regualr degergent WITHOUT bleach additives, and send them through a second rinse cycle. When you dry, DO NOT use any fabric softener. It's best to cut the seams off your towels so they don't scratch the paint. I use large bath towels to dry the car, and cloth, 100% cotton, diapers to apply/remove wax and apply my Z6. All this may seem like overkill to the average person, but to those who want the showcar shine this is how it is obtained.

I wish I still had the picture of my red thirdgen TA. I took a picture of the rear fender that was such a clear reflection that you couldn't tell the car was red. Much like the pics ken has put up of his black cars, only the effect is usually harder to get on other colors. The car was over 10 years old at the time and a daily driver.

I always thought you needed an abrasive wool and foam pads and a elictric polisher to remove bad paint blemishes and fix the clear coat Except for the nose (witch has alot of peeling clear coat) the clear coat is not in terrible shape, it looks good after rain or in the shade but if if its dry and sunny
you can see a bunch of swirls.

If the clear coat is peeling, yes, you need far more work than Zaino. That's the point I was trying to make above. You didn't specify what shape your clear coat was in. If it looks good "after it rains", Zaino will make it look like it has always just rained. Zaino gives it that very "wet" look.

My Formula was pretty "rough" after sitting outside, and being driven in winter for three years. The hood had a bad scrape where a heavy cardboard flooring box bounced off the hood in a heavy wind. Repeated applications of various polishing compounds and abrasive polishes would not fix the scrape in the hood. After a couple coats of Zaino, the scrape was virtually impossible to see, unless you knew exactly where to look, and did it in the right light. Didn't "remove" the scrape with abrasives, it filled it in and optically "hid" it. I thought it was all BS until I tried it. I would never use anything else on the Formula. Just did some Z5 recoats to get the small marks left after doing a lot of mechanical work, and it looks way better than new.

In all honesty, the pictures don't do it justice.... you have to see it to appreciate the gloss and depth on the dark green paint.
