  • The project starts!

I have finally collected all of the parts I need to do my "Spring Project". I have some Hooker long tubes, Hooker ORY, Asp underdrive pulley, MTI cam, Comp 918 springs, Thunder Racing pushrods. Now it's on!!! I am shooting for 400 RWHP - it will most likely fall a little short but should be close. The cam is a good street cam - could've gone bigger but I think it is a good starting point! Wish me luck (first time hacker!)

My goal - build it for 11s so I can drive it into the 12s
Silver 02 WS-6, 6 speed, Corsa cat-back, SLP lid, K&N filter, BMR STB, !CAGs, Lou's short stick, MSD wires, MTI "Hammer" cam, ASP underdrive pulley, Hooker LTs, Hooker ORY, Comp 918s, TR pushrods, UMI Sfcs, UMI LCAs, NGK TR55s, Hotchkis springs

    Dyno'd 4/24: 330.9 RWHP/ 344.8 RWTQ (Before cam, headers, and pulley)

    Dyno'd 5/1: 383.5 RWHP / 380.5 RWTQ (393 actual RWHP)

I am going with a cam a lot of people in my club went with - MTI's C1 cam. It is very similar to Thunder Racings TR224 cam - specs are 224 duration on both exhaust and intake - .563 lift on a 112 LSA. The cam has a great lopey idle and very good mid range torque and HP. You can go much bigger now with the advanced tuning available but this is my first "cammed" car and I want to be sure I can live with it before I go bigger. Right now it is a "nice day" cruiser and an occasional track car (just for fun) so this cam seemed to fit the bill. It was very tempting to go with a Lg cam - G5X3 or Futral's F13 but with the kind of power they are making with those my rearend and clutch would be toast in no time. Basically I just wanted enough cam to smack Jay around!! LOL.

That'll be enough to smack me around alright... for a while...
