Strange electrical prob in 2003 Yukon, any ideas??

Last week Thursday all sound stops coming out of the speakers (radio, CD, OnStar, Phone, door chimes, etc...). All day Friday the same problem. On Saturday, the car won't start (battery is low, not enough juice to turn it over). Sunday morning I hook up the jumper cables and it starts right up...and everything is working as normal!! It is in the dealership right now, but I expect to get the 'Can find anything wrong' line. Any ideas???

Sounds like the radio amp had an intermitant short and was draining the battery. That would also explain why there was no sound coming from the radio, chimes, etc. All those items are powered off the amplifier.

You may never find the cause, just like the blackout that occured last week!

I am figuring it had something to do with the amp(s) as well. Almost seems like the battery dying completely reset something...real strange.

send it back...it's a 2003, it still should be covered.

Solution...If you have a 03 Yukon or Hummer, come inside...

Ended up they reporgrammed the radio. Apparently, the radio converses with several other modules (onstar, etc...) and the reason it stopped working was because it was not getting the signal to 'wake up'. Service tech said there is a TSB for this for 2003 Yukons and Hummers...if anyone has one they may want to check it out.

Is it made by Microsoft? Did the tech reboot it?

Dang I miss the days of my 1970 GTO with dual points, I thought that was high tech.
