I have an M-22, scattershield, etc. gathering dust in my garage and I'm curious how tough it is to put a clutch pedal and linkage in an '88 GTA? Anyone tried it?

The dimples for the holes are already there, you just have to measure and get the parts from the wrecker. It isnt that hard, but will take time to do it properly.

I'm really not very knowledgeable on this but I think the M22 has a shifter that is mounted on the side rather than in the top like a T5 that was originally put in the car. I'm not sure if the tunnel is wide enough to have the shifter mounted on the side and if you use a shifter with a straight handle it's not going to come up in the middle of the shifter hole in the console. You might can find a handle that has a shift to the right about 2 inches like the old pistol grip Chrysler shifters did but I don't know. I can't think of any reasons it wouldn't bolt up to the motor. Not sure of where the trans mount would end up either.

Thanks for the replies. The shifter is a Hurst Competion Plus with the offset shift lever you describe (pretty common, actually), and I can fab any cover I need to close up the opening. Same on the rear mount, although it would take a bit of thought.
I just got the car (haven't even picked it up yet!) and I'm guessing they have hydraulic clutch actuators? I pick it up this weekend, so I'll have a better chance to inspect it. It comes less engine, but with the 700R4 automatic. Trans aparently has problems, so either way I need to do work on the drivetrain.
