  • Dry Nitrous Recommendations?

I'm looking at installation of a simple dry nitrous system to use on the track with my TA once my new headers, Borla and SFCs come in. I don't plan on using more than a 100hp shot.

    Anyone recommend a particular system?

How much should I spend on the install?

Besides a window switch any other mods to consider? The car is a daily driver.

I ran the NOS kit #5177 I believe. I had it on my 99WS6 and then on my 02SS. I would recommend the fp safety switch and window switch. I do know from experience that if you have a stock A4, be prepared to rebuild it once in a while. I ran a best of 12.20 on the SS and 12.32 on the WS6. Only other mods were Loudmouth and airlid. That was a 125 shot.

I can't really help you on the LS1 cars as I have no experience in what kits are out there for those engines. However, basic nitrous rules still apply. One step colder plugs (non-platinum) gapped at .035, window switch, fuel pressure safety switch, WOT switch, and a soft touch rev limiter (not sure if the factory LS1 cars come with this or not, I know LT1's cut fuel instead of spark). As far as installation goes, you should do it yourself or ask a friend who has nitrous installation experience to help you. Any shop will charge high, not to mention they may cut corners that you would not do yourself. If you put it in, you know how it's installed, and you know what every part does and why it does it so it makes you that much more "in the know" as to what is going on. Also, you can run the lines and wiring where you want them, not where somebody else thinks they should go so they can get done faster.

ZEX kit is about as simple as you can get. Took about 1 hour and 45 minutes install time. Two hoses to connect. One to the fuel pressure reg. The other to the intake manifold.mount the control box and hoses to it, Bottle in the trunk and clip a wire from the control box to the TP Sensor. thats pretty much it in summary.

Well, mine took 2 days, but if you open the hood you can't see any nitrous stuff. You can't see any nitrous stuff if you lay on the ground and look under the car. You can't see any nitrous stuff if I open the doors and hatch. There are some people who can't see the stuff even with the car on the rack!
