  • NFB: I want this house!!!!

I found a house I really, really like this weekend.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but I went back today to post pics. I'll be for my realtor to get back in town so I can go see the inside of it.

The particular house to catch my eye is the brown one (with the "for sale" sign )

It is 1200 square feet -- 3 bedroom, 1 bath. It has a garage and a basement, and two decks in the back - there is a walkout from the master bedroom onto the second floor deck

Take a look at the street that it's on! All the houses around it are amazing... well-kept 1920s homes, fully updated and landscaped, they look GREAT. Trees and flowers everywhere... apparently, that street won a city beautification award a couple years ago. I have to believe there is a lot of potential for me to bring my house up to the standards of the others, and make a healthy profit off of it in a few years.

As for location, it is the third house off of Woodward Avenue, and one block north of 8 Mile Road. (Yes, the infamous 8 Mile)... That location puts me less than a mile south of downtown Ferndale, and 3 miles south of downtown Royal Oak. Royal Oak is probably the trendiest nightlife spot around... and 3 miles is walking distance!!! (or should I say - staggering distance??)

    Anyway... on with the pics...

Have it inspected and jump on it! It feels good to be in your own place... To look around and know you actually own the walls around you.

Very cool. Looks nice. Don't get too excited though - I've looked at about 50 houses when I was buying mine, and most looked good - on the outside.
Then you go in and it's a whole different story

I just bought my first house the first of this month. It's cool to come HOME to a place that you own.

        Screw renting

Congrats on your find. I hope it works out for you. I love the architecture of those older homes. When kept modernized inside, they can be the nicest houses around.

I bought a foreclosure back in '99. I'm still working on it...
