  • Why do the later model 4th gens sit so high?

The first series of 4th gens do not seem to have the "jacked up" stance that the later models have. Can anyone tell me why this is so? Were the springs different?

Yes and no. some models do have optional springs that lower the car slightly. The other issue is settling, springs will sag after enough time.

It's even more noticible on 3rd gens. My '87 looks like it has been lowered, but it hasn't, it's just that it still has the original springs! There are several posts on thirdgen.org from people that have bought lowering springs and the car sits higher than before.

My '95 Formula used to sit pretty high in the rear. I shaved the rubber spacers on top of the springs. Now it looks pretty good but now I have a problem with sqeeks and bottoming out in the back. I might need new shocks.
