  • NFB: Kinda good idea about gas-pass it on

    I know I can't afford to pay $3 a gallon for gas. L It's worth a try - Sounds like a good idea...

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer and it might go higher!!
Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.09 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost! of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50- $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am ... so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Personally, I think the only thing that will work is reduce our dependancy on oil. As I said before, the auto manufacturers are going to be in deep crap when the public gets fed up with gas prices. As GM is finding out, that is already starting to happen. The big expensive gas guzzling SUV and truck sales have started to slide, being replaced by smaller SUVs and cars. Electric and cell technology is where it's at. When we quit buying gas period, then we'll have to contend with the electric company's rising costs as they make a grab for increasing profits.

I can't wait for the day that I get into my electric car, start moving away quietly and cleanly. Then modify it with all wheel drive, 700 lbs of torque and be able to rip off a 10 second quarter mile with nothing but a whisper..... That should reduce alot of unwanted attention from Johnny law or the neighbors while still being able to flatten your eyeballs on a brutal pass.

The problem is you don't get anything for free. The cost of generating electricity for an electric car is either coal, nuclear, solar, hydroelectric, wind, or natural gas.

The coal used to produce the electricity for a car puts out more pollution than a gas burning car. If everyone were to switch today the electric companies would have to switch over to coal because that is the most abundant and cheapest source. The environmentalist won't like that.

      Environmentalist really don't like nuclear.

Solar isn't cost effective per watt.

There aren't enough lakes to provide hydroelectric.

The environmentalist don't like the wind generators because a bird gets killed every once in a while and they don't like the looks of them.

Natural gas is about the best choice but there isn't near enough of it to prove the needs for everyone in the US and the price for it would make buying gas like buying a piece of gum.

Hydrogen cells is the biggest misnomer in alternate fuel vehicles. It produces something like twice as much pollution per KW than gasoline per KW.

The biggest problem with electric vehicles is their range being limited to less than something like 200 miles. Then it takes like 8 hours charge time to go the next 200 miles.

We just need transporters like StarTrek. Beam me up Ken.

Just imagine if we were to be able to stop buying oil from the middle east. All of the insignificant countries would go back to living in the dark ages being of no importance to the world anymore.

Just think of all the millions of gallons we could save by just getting a good tune! Replace oxygen sensors, air fliters, spark plugs, wires, reduce friction on bearings, brakes etc.

Plus trade in that old truck or SUV for a small car to reduce dependancy on gas and that will go a long way. Buy a little 4-banger for rainy days and as a winter beater thats what's my Sunbird is for!

They use it on the space shuttle. Speaking of that, many years ago they tried to eject the "crap" and it froze on the side of the shuttle. They had to go in bags for the rest of the mission.

course if we didnt exicute the exises tax, ans wasnt shipping gas out of the harbors by the super tanker load it migh be cheaper. if we did have so many ridicualous rights activious abnoxious laws, we would have a lot more money in the goverment, income taxes started after the ww2 for the goverment. if more poeple would take more responsilities of their actions we would need half the law, or gov. granted since the U.S. is the only super/mega power and the world's police un dosent do anything cept whine and complain, congress fitting over petties differences, thing would be alot cheaper,

anyone heard of mixing methonel(corn) in with the gas?? run just as good if not better. mix it 50/50 cut the price in half and they will double the profits and the gready monopolies will get more in the long run we harvest so much corn and soybean its un believable. any one remember mid 90 were they were pilling it on the ground in the mid west we couldnt give it away fast enough.
