If you can, start looking for a great deal on a 100K + Blazer, Bravada, or Jimmy.... maybe even an Exploder if necessary. The first thing I did before I bought my T/A was looked for an older S-10 Blazer. I ended up buying a '91 Bravada with 113K for only $700. The woman selling it just bought a new Cobalt, and needed to get rid of it. All it needed was an idler arm and a new cap and rotor.

Just surf through every newspaper, auto sales mag and local autos on the net within 100 miles or so. The deals are out there. You just need to sift through all the crap to find them. Don't get discouraged either. I looked at 15 different trucks before I found this one. In fact, the very next week after I bought the Bravada, I found a 94 Jeep Cherokee with 120K selling for $900... at a dealership, with a 60 day warranty no less.

You are better off getting your daily driver taken care of first. I know it's tempting. Believe me... I came very close to buying a few 2002's before I had a winter beater, but if you do it right, it always works out in the end.

    Good luck my friend.
