17X11s; forgot the offset. I have the 9.5 ZR1 wheels in the front and 11s in the back. The WS6 wheel is a 17X9 I believe.

I've heard of it being done, but nobody that I know of will recommend it. A 315 is 40 mm wider than a 275, which means it's going to be extremely diffictult to mount on the wheel, and inherently dangerous. In my opinion, no.

While it can be done, the car will handle like crap. The sidewall gets pulled inward, bowing the tread. Then you have to run a lower air pressure to get the tread to be flat on the pavement which then makes the handling even worse. Not to mention the increased heat generated by the sidewall flex and the potential for tire failure. So NO... don't do it.

285/40/17...... I run those at all four corners on 17x9.5s. They are still Ok on a 9" rim. I think Ken runs those on the rear with 275s up front.

                  LEFT: 315/35 on a 17 X 11" rim

                  RIGHT: 275/40 on a 17 X 9.5" rim

Think what that 315 is going to look like, all squished up on a 9" rim........

I can tell you what will happen when you put a tire on a rim that is too narrow. The edges of the tire curls up. They won't touch the road. You have to lower your tire pressure to keep it from looking like a motorcycle tire and wearing in the middle. The tire wear you get is weird. It does not wear in the very center (because of the low tire pressure) and both edges. Traction is awful. Of coarse it's hard to get traction with a modified Dodge 340 6 pack.

But, if we purchase the 17x11 ZR1 wheels (OEM or knockoffs) for the rear, mounted with 315's, are we good for clearance and grip? (LT1 TA application) -I won't ask about increased road/tire noise.

Grip, yes, fitment, questionable. It depends on the backspacing. Some ZR1 wheels have incorrect backspacing for f-body applications, and require spacers and/or fender "massaging". In other words, bashing the heck out of your fenderwell so they won't rub. Get a set of American Racing wheels backspaced for the f-body. They are spot on, no spacers, no beating your car.

I have ZR1s all the way around. If you buy them for the 4th gen f-body with 50mm (Front) and 56mm(rear) offset, you will get a really good fit. My wheels fit fine, but I still bent back some of the inner fender to make sure I didn't have any interference. The outer rim of the fender could rub with the tire on a hard corner, but there is no way around that with a 315/35/17. Anyway, long story short...you need a 17X11 with a 56mm offset for it to work on a 4th gen. I REALLY like my ZR1s (A LOT).
