A lot of times when my car is hot and I let it set just for a few minutes and restart it while hot it sputters for a few seconds like one of the plugs is not firing then clears up. I had an idea, or someone else came up with it, of adding an aluminum plate as an additional heat sink for the coil. In less than an hour after I added this I hooked everthing back up and it just fired right up and ran smoothly.
So i think these coils get too hot and causes a miss fire. I thought about just putting some insulation material between the coil bracket and cylinder head to keep the heat from going to the coil. As long as I keep the ground strap to it. I might try that some day. I have replaced the coil a couple years ago and have fairly new platinum plugs and wires.
So if anyone has a hot miss fire on their LT1 they might try this.
I think I have the original ign. module though. I guess if it runs it's still working.
