  • Will these fit???

18x9 inch wheels with a 5X4.75 bolt pattern, 6 inch back spacing? I know the bolt pattern is right but how about the rest? Any probs running 18's on a 96 formula, not dropped?
    Thanks,
    Brandon
ps the stock wheels gotta go

The stock WS6 and SS 17x9" wheels have a 7" backspace. So, your 18x9" wheels with a 6" backspace would be moved outward toward the edges of the fenders by 1" compared to the stock WS6, for example. That gives you a "frontspace" of about 4".

The front wheels would put the outer edges of the tires slightly out from under the fenders. The rear wheels would put the outer edges of the tires in exactly the same place as my 17x11's sit, which is just barely under the edge of the fender, when looking straight down from above:

An 18" wheel is no different than a 17" wheel in most respects.... its the tire diameter that determines whether it will rub on anything, and its easy to match the stock tire diameter with a 275/35 or 285/35-18 tire. The excessive frontspace of the wheel you mentioned will probably cause even the correct diameter tire to rub on the fender lip, front and rear.

You will lose some straight line traction with the narrower sidewall, and suffer some inertia losses from moving the centroid of the wheel/tire's mass further from the axle. Ride will be marginally harsher, exposure of the rim to damage from potholes will increase slightly, and your brake rotors and calipers are going to look very small inside the larger wheel.

Its in the signature.... 11.1@128mph with a 125-shot, spraying about 60 feet out from the line. Right now its set up for a 300-shot. I just need to take it to the track

That's why I bumped the rear tires up to the 15W's..... its gonna launch off the line with the full shot of nitrous.

Fred, i was toying with the idea of setting my street tire/ wheel setup with what you run on the strip, of course no slicks. How do them front skinny tires handle for driving on the street?
