  • NFB: Code scanner not working on '02

I have one of those inexpensive code scanner from Harbor Freight that cost about $40 that displays OBD II codes and erases them. I've verified it works on my 97 GTP, but for whatever reason it's not working on my wife's '02 Rendezvous. The system won't recognize it's plugged into the OBD connector... it doesn't start up when plugged in like it should. I verified it still works on my '97. Is there a difference in 97's and 02's that would make it not work, or is there likely something wrong with the OBD connector on the Rendezvous? Any thoughts as to why it would work on one and not the other? It's supposed to be good for all '96 and later vehicles.

Check for the fuse that supplies +12V to the ALDL connector. On a 4th Gen F-Body, its the same fuse as the cig lighter. Not sure which fuse on a Rendezvous.
