Toying with the idea of buying a chip for my 99 WS6. Any opinons about chips? Do they effect the car negetively at all? The chip is a Gorilla chip. Says it will boost it about 50-60 HP. Just wondering. Thanks.

PCMs since 94 are sealed and contain a flash memory. In short... you can't replace the chip. In reality you won't gain that kind of HP anyway without lots of other mods.

Like Joe mentioned, in order to make changes to the PCM programming, you have to use an "outside" source of software to re-flash the existing program stored in the EEPROM. You cannot just pop in a chip and gain 50 hp.
Start with all the bolt-ons like, LS6 intake, aftermarket lid, bigger TB, headers, MAF translator, catback exhaust. etc. You can easily exceed 410 flywheel hp with just bolt-ons with an LS1.Comment
