      From one old guy to another.........the only other thing I would urge you to think about is job security. With the government you have it and can work until your 65. If you go into private industry and for whatever reason you lose your job, you may not be able to get another one easily and may also have difficulty getting one that pays the same. There are just too many of us wise and older folks out there these days that this happens to. Just wanted to mention it for what it's worth.

        Sounds like a good opportunity for you. Make your choice wisely, and do what's best for you, mary, and the wolves of course . In my opinion, change is always a good thing....I like mixing things up from time to time....but that's just me.

            as old as you are, er, I mean as many years as you have with the guvurNmint, don't forget to take into consideration how much each year (of taking your aws days) adds to your retirement account vs. starting somewhere else as a newb...

            Corporate America these days expects more and more of their oft decreasing headcount.......there comes a time when the money simply is not worth it
