  • Weird bogging

My car has been giving me a strange problem. When i feather out the clutch and hit the gas pedal about half way down, my car kinda bogs before it goes. Any other time i hit the gas, the car goes with no problems. It's been doing this for a while now. Could it be the sign of my clutch going bad?
Red 95 Trans Am: M6, Moroso CAI, Magnaflow, Spohn sway bars, back to life as of 2/15/10!!!
    SOLD- Kinda miss it
94 Del Sol VTEC: 27 city/ 33 highway, knee deep in slowness
    SOLD- Good riddance!
2006 Ford Fusion: 2.3, 5 speed, could run 15lbs of boost with a 150 shot and it'd still be slow

Definitely sounds clutch-related. Any noises? How many miles on the clutch? Could be the flywheel allowing for a premature release (my tranny shop told me to watch for this on my Z due to the state of the flywheel when I had my clutch done). Is it just from a takeoff? Does it happen in reverse also?

It's only on take off. Reverse is fine, no problems. Sometimes when i think i'm off the clutch and i get back on the gas, the motor revs for a second and then the clutch grabs. My clutch releases right at the top though so i think this is why- when i think i'm off the clutch, i'm not fully off yet. it's hard to tell. I could literally rest my foot on the clutch and that would depress it enough for me to shift. I just hit 76,000 miles on it yesterday and to the best of my knowledge it's the original clutch. Thanks Steve

Any time man . Does it do it every time when you take off, or just some of the time? No grinding or squealing or any other noises? Try a 2nd gear takeoff and see what happens. Also, try starting off in 2nd then, as you're already moving, go to first and finish taking off. Let me know if the problem is still there doing these procedures.

Wow, you don't waste any time now do you? lol It's actually fine in 2nd gear no matter what i'm doing. Sometimes if i slow down to about 10 MPH in second gear and then go again, it makes a weird noise. Not really a grinding but it sounds more like it's coming from the driveshaft. Could be the clutch/ flywheel though. I should get it inspected but i'll just wait till i get it tuned up. It's not a major problem. Thanks again man

Does it sound like a groaning? If so, that's normal, tranny's griping about low speed for the gear you're in. When it bogs, do you get any shaking?
