  • 12 sec. LS2 GTO's

Can anybody post some links to some STOCK 05 LS2 GTO's running 12.99 or faster. No videos please, i have to be able to print it out becuase i was arguing with my friend that the LS2's can break out of the 13's striaght from the factory. And he didnt believe me , he said they run like 13.4's but i said why would GM produce a brand new motor that runs the same times that LS1's ran. Also is it true that there was no "normal" corvette made in i think he said 1992 becasue chevy only wanted to produce the Corvette ZR1 to compete with the 8 cylinder porshe?
    thanks yall

but seriously... the guys at ls1tech.com are posting that 05's are are running mid to low 13's with 102-105 trap speeds and the it seems that the m6's are faster than the a4's. One person claimed a 12.90 but he didn't post a timeslip

NAw man, my friend actually isnt any idiot, hes usually pretty knowlegable about how fast cars are. H e use to have a red with red leather and black wheels 96 t/a that went 11.5's all day but now hes got a 05 G35 so he doesnt pay attention to domestic sport cars really anymore. I just heard that ls2's go 12's on this board so i just wanted to show him proof so i posted here. Please no more bogus replies.

Except for 1983 the Corvette has been produced every year since 1953, and never did Chevrolet limit the selection to ZR1 models only.

the C4 was supposed to debut in 1983 but was not quite ready, so they did not make any that year.

Ill see if i can find some time slips on the gto forum. some of the guys that ran high 12's over there are pretty straight up dudes....

i tell ya, i ran B modified production in the late 60's and early 70's with my ss 396 chevelle, heavy mods on the motor... mid to upper 12's.... quit drag racing after that, no more beating the tar out of my cars... and i've had nothing but pontiac muscle cars since.. mod's were mostly bolt on except the CompTA..motor out and gm hp parts, lt 4 hot cam...etc...

but folks.. i know, just from the few times ive gotten on this gto...this ls2 will break the 13's.....in this car.

Chevy never put aside 'normal corvettes' just to focuse on ZR-1's in '92 or any other year. They produced both at the same time (from '90 - '95 for ZR-1's).

Plus they were moving the factory to the current location of Bowling Green, KY (I believe that's the place).

Motor Trend claims the 05 GTO M6 is a 13.3 car, but I don't know how much I would believe that. After driving the LS1 GTO M6 and the LS2 C6 M6, I would be shocked if the 05 GTO M6 wasn't in the 12s. The LS2 is fast, make no mistakes about it. Still not to keen on the sound (only heard the stock C6), but its still fast. Tell your buddy to do some actual research next time.

Actually the Corvette plant in Bowling green KY. was made for the '81 model mid year and all '82's and up where built there.

I thought it was moved later than that. Eh, I was 1 at the time anyways, what do ya expect? lol

                      Thanks for the correction though
