    what should a 383 stroker cost me ?
    i have headers ready in addition to my listed mods.
    i'm looking at a local shop.
    what questions should i ask?
    how long should this take a good shop?
    never had any work done with them.
    what hp should i see with a 383 rear wheel hp?

    To rebuild your current motor to be 383 cid you wull need the following:

    3.750" stroke crankshaft and New pistons to match the deck height and overbore. It is possible to re-use the stock connecting rods.

    It would also be nice to get some 6" rods to keep the thrust angle of the stroke from getting to extreme.

    You can go forged or cast, depending on how hard you intend to use it. You will then need machine work to get it all together.

    You'll need a 1 piece rear main crank for SBC / LT1. There are many companies like Eagle, Scat and Callies that make them. Count on the new rotating assembly costing at least $1500 or more depending on how durable you need it to be. The machine work and assembly will cost at least another $1000.

    With an otherwise stock engine I would not expect to pick up more than 20 or 30 HP doing the stroker conversion. Where it will really begin to shine is when you do other things like heads and cam.
