Will be in Calais Maine in June / July and would like to travel a day or two into Canada. Being close to the area can you suggest any place to see or visit. Will be with the wife and son (11).

Would appreciate any help you or anybody else would be able to give .

I don't have a whole lot of experience travelling around New Brunswick or Nova Scotia, but there's no shortage of things to see/visit there. You'll be right on the border at the Bay of Fundy - highest tides in the world, lots of parks based on stuff to see concerning that. Plus there's a high speed ferry runs from Bar Harbour to Nova Scotia - neat trip in itself.
