I posted a thread a week or so ago about sensor locations and my trouble codes. It did end up being bad o2 sensors. But i still have a bad sputtering problem. It was first noticed at below 3,000 rpms and now anytime i lug the car down it sounds like its loaded up muffled sounding and then clear up after down shifting and running it hard for awhile.I did notice it breaking up a little under hard accleration the other day?Car sits alot and only has 26,000 miles on it and its a 1996ss six speed.I hope its not the opti.Tried changing the coil from my 93 but it has a dual plug coil.I checked mine and it had low resistance on the primary side and checked good on the secondary side?Any clues?

    Miss

Sound like plugs or wires bad, which usually show as low speed miss when under load. When my Opti went bad, in my case it was the Optical sensor that was bad, it would start missing above 3500 and die by 4000. By the way don't buy one of those rebuilt piece of junks from Auto Zone. I put one of them in and had the same problem. Put in a new Opti, and it cured the problem. In my case the Cap & Rotor were NOT the problem, but others have had trouble with them.

      update

Sorry for the slow response.Money is a little slow this year if u know what i mean.I had my car worked on awhile ago but the guy never fixed it.He checked the vacuum etc and checked out fine.Cleaned the Maf sensor and found it was showing random misfires. It ran better but went back to the same old problem.Well i took a closer look and found loose header bolt on the right rear cylinder and also after shutting the lights off a bad plug wire which was hard to see but looks to be rubbing the header.Hope to replace them this week end.
