  • 94 Z28 Camaro Running hot

Ok please tell me this is normal but I am in Kansas City this morning outside air temp is 69. About a month ago the Chevy dealer put in a new water pump and flushed the coolant. The car seems to run well. But today driving into work the temp just starts to go up and up the fans would come on and drive it back down to half and then it would repeat the whole process over and over again. I have 88k on the clock. Is this normal or do I have bigger issues on the rise. I bought the car used about 3 years ago with only 43k on the clock they told me so old man drove the car. I have since thought differently because I have taken out the back seat to clean them and found girl stuff like lip stick and hair ties. So I guess what I am getting at here is I am thinking I have bigger issues because now I just have this feeling that the car has been neglected and I am going to have to pay the price for it. Please let me know what you think.

What do you mean by hot? How hot does it exactly get? Does it go in the red?

Our fans stock are programmed to go on at 226 degrees. It is supposed to run pretty hot, then come back down, and repeat over and over again.

If you are legitimately overheating, you can have one of a couple issues.

    1) Low coolant
    2) Bad thermostat (to replace, remove rubber intake elbow, thermostat housing is right on top of water pump, 2 bolts)
    3) Air trapped in the system (Use 2 brass bleeder screws right under intake elbow as well)
black 95 t/a, a4, beefed up tranny w/ higher stall converter, transgo shift kit, trans temp gauge, trans cooler, richmond 3.73's, loudmouth, hypertech programmer, 160 thermo, descreened maf, TB bypass and airfoil, trick flow intake elbow, underdrive pulleys, moroso cai, edelbrock panhard rod, bmr stb, slp sfc's, fiberglass firehawk hood, hawk pads, taylor wires, ngk plugs, royal purple fluids,...and hopefully more to come

It sounds normal. If you aren't comfortable with those kinds of engine temps, lower temperature thermostats and PCM programs can be used to change it. They run hot for emissions reasons.
