Continuing the no-start car thread on a different line-can I easily access the starter solenoid on a 91 Firebird with 3.1L? I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier- assuming the reason that the starter doesn't work is in fact an alarm system starter cutout, I should be able to jumper the starter solenoid with the key on to fire the engine up, right?

unless the alarm cuts ignition current too. Can you just disconnect the alarm?

perhaps, but I have no clue where the stuff is located in the car. I really didn't dig too deeply into the car, I just want to be armed with as much information as possible when I go back later today. I made out a little list of things to check (like trans fluid, oil, coolant, etc; engine mounts, turn crank at snout to ensure block isn't frozen, etc) :-P Also didn't really want to spend hours on the dealer lot tearing into this car, lol
