I am very interested in the LE2 cam/head package but want to make a 396 down the road. I have heard that the LT4 Hot Cam will "disappear" in a 383 and I am not quite sure what this means exactly. Does that mean it will not flow enough to see the full potential of the 383? So my question is will the LE2 package be too small for a 396??

Basically yes, the bigger the cubes the more the cam will be "softened" so to speak. For instance, a cam with 230 duration at .050" and .585" of lift, might have a pretty decent lope and make good power in a stock 350" LT1. Put that same cam in a 396 or something like a 409 LT1, and it will not lope as hard nor have the same characteristics as in the 350.
The absolutely beautiful thing about camshafts is that 99.9% of the time no matter which grind you choose, they will all cost the same.So you are not stuck with the cam that "normally" comes with the LE2 package.

Sweet that answers a question that I have been meaning to ask for a while. So even if I do the LE2 package... I can stroke it later down the road and just spend another $300 and replace the cam. Thanks for the info Kev1997 6-spd WS6 Trans Am
