  • vertical door convertion (lambo doors)

I have a 2002 Firehawk and I would like to install a vertical door convertion, has anyone have any problems installing the kit or any advice prior to me purchasing the kit?

Please don't destroy a Firehawk like that.

If you search on the camaroz28.com forum you will find info on it if you must.

It really would be a shame, IMO.

I hope this is a joke. If not, I have a check ready for you to pick up so I can buy your car. I'm trading you a Civic as well

As you may have noticed.... you've stepped into a nest of gearheads..... people that are much more focused on performance and handling, than on "appearance" items. I think I can safely say there is no one here on F-Body.com that has (or will ever do) a "Lambo" door conversion on their car.

Not to say you can't do it.... its your car and you have the right to do anything you want to it. You just need to find a more open-minded audience. And the suggestion above was a good one. There is an "Appearance" forum on CamaroZ28.com, and there ARE people there who have the Lambo doors...... not aware of anyone who has done it to a Firehawk though..... does seem sort of sacreligious. But with 40,000 members on CZ28.com, you will find a few of the people who are into Lambo doors, suicide door conversions, undercar neons, painted interior panels and dubs.

Here's the link to the CZ28.com Appearance forum. Just be sure to do a "search" before you post, because you will find several threads already existing on "lambo" doors.

I agree with Wolfman. With the money that you would spend on lambo doors - you could make your car one of the fastest in the city. Lambo doors would get people's attention but a great sounding, great running f-body gets a lot more attention and envy. Nothing commands respect more than the fierce sound of a rumbling GM V8.

I agree with the others, that's a hugely expensive and odd thing to do to a Firebird, although our giant, heavy doors do tend to make ingress & egress a challenge, especially in a tight parking area. It was a major complaint of our cars, and probably kept a lot of people from buying them (which is a good thing in my book).

Yeah man, please don't, esp. not to a Hawk. The money you'd be dropping on that you could drop on performance mods and have a real screamer.

I guess that vote is unanimous. I guess I will look into installing a twin turbo kit or something.

The idea for the vertical door kit was to improve on car since it takes up a lot of room just to get in and out of the car and not for appearance.

                          Good Idea!

Ill be the first to say that I like the Idea of the lambo doors! There are far worse things that can be done to a Firehawk, (i.e. huge spoiler, clear turn signals, clear tail lights, color bulbs, painted interiors, radical bodykits, etc.) so I really dont see how this would degrade a Firehawk. Plus, from what I've heard, it's mostly a bolt-on affair and the kit can be removed. Getting out in tight spaces will be so much easier w/ them, but best of all, they will not change the appearance of the car!

                          Just my .02 cents.
