  • nfb: well, i turned down a good offer this afternoon

i wont mention the name of the company......

but they have some awesome products, and i have delt with them since i got my gto..... i really like thier personal customer service. the owner made me and offer today... they are going to carry the rear installed twin turbo kits and do installs now.... they have a 04 gto and a 05 gto lined up to do the first installs, and the super tuner to do the reprograming of the pcm's...... the guy with the 05 backed out at the last min. he offered me the deal to be the project o5 goat. come down "there" and they would put me up for the 4 days or so... all i had to do is pay them the wholesale for the unit..which is 3600.00 or so. install and reprogramming is free with boarding while i wait.....

168.00+ rwhp added, drivability remains same.......

i turned it down........ i gotta be honest with ya.....what in the heck am i going to do with 600hp? the 400hp rating of the 05 goat has already been proven to be conservative...... i dont drag race anymore....i have no intention of driving around spanking stuff on the street.....that only brings trouble..... i have no intention of driving like a wild man on the way to the gym and jepordizing warranty with forced induction........

it was a nice jesture, i was honored.

    on wit da show......

I hope I don't get crusified for saying this but I understand your decision man, 600 hp isn't really necessary for a street car. But it still woulda been cool for some 17 yr old ricer to get there but kicked by a guy that could be their grampa, no offense , in a GTO. Think about it, thats funny I don't care who you are lol

600+ HP would be nice just to have, but not to sound old and boring, it would just eat up more fuel, which is unnecessary, especially if the power isn't going to be used.

If it's any consolation, I think you made the right decision. That and a bus pass will get you a ride on the bus.

I'm going to have to agree that you made a really good decision. Not because of gas milage or because of warantey and I know you don't need 600 horespower but then again you certainly don't need 400 either. I'm agreeing because LS motors run over 10:1 compression and its just not a good idea to run forced induction and street gas with that high of compression. I know many guys do and use lower boost but sooner or later its gonna go kaboom. IMHO just pull the engine bore and stroke it go with forged internals and lower compression then give him a call back and tell him you'll take him up on his offer Some may ask you why you'd need that much horespower so just ask them why not.
