It turns out that the play in the wheel was from a loose pivot pin, the left one. That was your problem, too, right Tracy? Well, when I hammered them back in, the force punched out the seat and race (13 and 14), to fit the upper shaft within the bearing ring. But we're 99% sure the spring pressure and lock plate installation will hold it or push it back in place.

Correct, loose pivot pin. The pressure of the spring and lockplate will push the bearing back in place.

I finally finished everything after installing and re-installing the steering wheel and components about 4 times. The greatest part is, everything works exactly as before, and there are no "leftover" parts, which is what I feared the most Thanks for your help through this nightmare...err, project

LOL, I now need to be a Jedi Master of the door panel and window setup! During my test drive, the window was having trouble going up, then going up cockeyed. So either the track is broken, or the rear stabalizer broke. Either way, I'm researching your old posts on this...man, one problem after another! It's amazing how you have done every one of these things before me!

EDIT: I read someone on cz28.com shattered the window when drilling out the rivets. Considering I'm a bull in china shop I wonder if I should take it in, rather than trying to mess with it??

Don't worry about breaking the window. They are cheap on ebay and I have a spare sitting in my garage. LOL.

But seriously, if you are patient and use a dremel with several cut-off discs to first cut off the stems, then use a very sharp punch to gently make a detent to begin drilling with a small drill bit to start the hole for a bigger bit you will be fine.

I'm guessing that whoever broke a window was maybe trying to use a plyers to bend off the rivet stems instead of cutting them off with a dremel? Who knows, just use some common sense and finess, you'll be fine.
