I have personally never tried the Pro 5.0 or the SLP short throw.... but I must say that my Hurst short throw is one of my favorite mods. It feels like a real tranny should now. The throws are short and solid, whereas with stock they felt mushy, loose, and unformed. No matter which brand you choose you will definately feel the difference by getting that worthless stock piece out of there.

I've got the SLP short-throw...I love it. This is the shifter the cars should've left the factory with. You'll spend about an hour or so getting it in, but its pretty easy and definitely worth it. You'll be happy

The feel of the SLP vs the Hurst is about the same. I've had both. However the SLP doesn't have the stops that keep you from bending the shift forks. Just don't slam the gears and you should be OK.

                1995 Z28, many mods, SOLD

Yea so did I. I had a problem with the T5 that was probably due to a bent fork. That's also why I have an SLP sitting in the carport doing nothing.

Are you adding a short stick? If so, it might take some getting used to. It's fun being able to shift with a flick of the wrist though

I have the B&M ripper shifter. It has the two adjustable stops. Even a 800 pound gorilla cant bend a shift fork or damage the transmission. The shorter stick is very nice as well as the shorter throw. The shifts feels so solid it is hard to describe, definitely race car like. The B&M shifter itself is very robust and well designed and is indestructable. Definitely in the top 5 best mods list. I think the big thing that sets this shifter apart from some of the others is the adjustable stops but im sure the others perform well too.

Awesome topic...I've been tossing around the idea of upgrading the shifter in the car I'm about to purchase. I was thinking about getting Hurst, but it's nice to see some of the other opinions!

the 5.0 is the best... It's more expensive than the others but welll worth it, IMO.
