  • A problem Maybe????????

    Hi Gang!

    I have a 1997 Z28 with 86K on the clock!

Problem is before this oil change I had an oil pressure of about 35psi and now that I have changed oil I have with this oil 30psi maybe 32psi.

I use nothing but Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil and K&N oil filters. One thing different is Mobil had the 10w-30 that they said wouldn't require changing but every 15k or 1 year. This was their new formulation.

Do you think there is a problem. This is with my car idling fully warmed up! Driving I get between 50 and 60 psi.

Thanks Lee!, Let me know what you think

Maybe your oil pessure hasn't changed. When I dropped my new engine in my car finances were running low so I put the old oil pressure sending unit on the new engine. When I fired it up it was only reading 30-35psi which is cr@# for a new engine. Anyway to get to the point there was some build up inside the unit and it was alowing it to read correctly. After I got a new one it read like a new engine should.

SFC( not sure what kind), drilled/slotted rotors, K&N air filter, all free mods, 3" Borla cat back exaust, electric exaust cut out, NGK spark plugs, royal purple motor oil, and Zaino .Maybe more. I find more stuff done to it everytime I look at it.

If you are really afraid I'd recommend you send an oil sample to blackstone for analysis. Just request a free collection kit and mail it in. They will let you know all about the health of your motor by chemical breakdown of your waste oil. It's really a worthwile exersize and you will learn alot from it.
