  • 4l60e shifter

    does anyone run any sort of slap shifter or rachet shifter on their 4l60e's, i am ordering a built trans with a higher stall and a bunch of goodies. what shifter do you use if there is one?

      I agree that is a great deal. If you are building this car for the street the M6 is much more fun to play with. I adds a whole new dimention to the experience. If you are building a 1420 race car, keep the auto.

      But to answer your question... The shifters for the autos do not add any performance improvement. You are best off letting the computer shift it.

        As far as shifters, are available that will fit witin the console without major work.

                no i believe it would be less work, and the car would actually be faster with a nie tranny from mad dogg transmissions

                  A TH400 with a manual reverse pattern valve body and a ratchet shifter puts a lot of the fun back in driving an automatic. It is the first performance automatic I ever owned, and its not all that bad compared to my T56. The big "loss" is the inability to get engine braking when downshifting, but that's just the result of using the manual valve body.

                  My wife is still trying to understand why anyone would want to manually shift an automatic
