  • WS.6 Tire Questions

When I bought my '02 WS6 last month, the two front tires were replaced by the dealer, but the back tires were not. They are in okay shape, probably have a couple thousand left on them, but I want to start looking now. Since the two fronts were replaced with the original Eagle F1's, I want to buy the same for the back. I realize there are better options out there, but I'm doing this to save a little money.

The problem I'm running into is, I can't seem to find the same Eagle F1 GS tires to match the fronts. The tires I'm finding have a different tread pattern.

I have two questions with this... First, does anyone know where I can find the original tread pattern design for the Eagle F1 GS?

Second, I would like to go slightly wider on the back, but still maintain a solid contact patch on the road. I believe the census in past threads regarding this issue was 285's are the best size to upgrade width on the stock 17" WS.6 wheels. Will they balloon or stick out at all if I go ahead with this size in the rear?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

the gy F1 has been redesigned. you most likely will not be able to find the old tread design...if tire rack doesnt have them, most likely you are sol. you will have to go with the new F1's..........

yes, the 285 fits fine and does not mushroom out. i ran them on my compTA in the rear.

That's what I was afraid of... Thanks, Ken.

BTW - If I end up deciding to go with four new tires all around, which would you recommend for good dry traction? I have been hearing good things about the BFG KD-W's. Are the new F1's okay?

      Thanks again.

If I have no luck finding someone out there with the older Eagle FI GS treads, it looks like I'll be going with the BFG's. Thanks, guys. As always, a huge help.
